How Newcastle could line-up under Unai Emery including snatching Lacazette and Saliba from Arsenal and Pau Torres

UNAI Emery is in talks with Newcastle about the possibility of taking over as manager at St James’ Park.

The Spaniard is currently in negotiations with the mega-rich club after Steve Bruce was sacked last month.

How Newcastle could line-up under Emery

And if the 49-year-old does join the Magpies, SunSport have explored who he could bring with him.

With the club currently second-bottom in the Premier League – and without a win this season – a major overhaul is needed.

Emery could bring some of his Villarreal stars with him to start the revolution, as well as linking up with some familiar old faces from Arsenal.

After conceding 23 goals in ten Premier League games Emery’s first task could be to shore up the defence.

That could involve nabbing Bernd Leno from the Gunners.

The German international was signed by Emery in 2018, and has lost his starting place this season thanks to Aaron Ramsdale’s excellent form.

Pau Torres is currently Emery’s star defender at Villarreal and a Spanish international – so would add some much needed steel at the back.

Emery could also launch an audacious bid for Gunners defender William Saliba.

The 20-year-old joined the North Londoners three years ago, but is yet to play a competitive game for them.

And Newcastle’s new owners want World Cup winner Toni Kroos in midfield, reports suggest.

They believe the 33-year-old could be the man to kickstart their pursuit of silverware.

At right-back Emery could decide to bring 19-year-old Villarreal starlet Yeremi Pino with him.

The teenager is primarily deployed as a winger but can also play at the back.

Meanwhile Jesse Lingard could end his Old Trafford hell with a switch to Newcastle.

The 28-year-old has played just 63 minutes of Prem action this campaign but enjoyed a hugely successful spell at West Ham last last season.

Up-front Emery could push for a reunion with PSG winger Julian Draxler.

The 28-year-old played for Emery at in France – and with Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar playing up front for Les Parisiens minutes are limited for the German.

Finally Emery may make a move for Alexandre Lacazette to lead the line.

The Frenchman is out of contract at Arsenal at the end of the season and could be targeted for a cut-price fee in January, or on a free transfer next summer.

Alternatively Emery could decide on a front two of Lacazette and Callum Wilson.

An alternative line-up under Emery

The Spaniard has deployed a 3-5-2 at times this season for Villarreal and could do the same for Newcastle.

And with a reported January transfer budget of just £50million, Emery’s options may be limited in the new year.

He could opt for a low-cost move for Etienne Capoue.

The 33-year-old has plenty of Prem experience with Watford and Tottenham, and has impressed since moving to Villarreal in the summer.
