Speaking to the press ahead of the match, Lukaku was asked about rumours that he is willing to take a pay cut to leave the Blues and return to Inter Milan.

The 29-year-old wouldn’t clear up speculation, however, saying: “I can’t talk about the future.”

Lukaku has been linked with the likes of Barcelona and Bayern Munich this summer.

It’s claimed that the £97.5m ace is willing to accept a similar salary to what he was previously on at Inter, worth around £125,000-a-week.

This would see him earn around £200k-a-week less than he does at Stamford Bridge.

Lukaku has also been linked with a shock reunion with former Inter boss Antonio Conte at Spurs.

But he reportedly isn’t willing to entertain such a move across London.

Within the piece, he also said: “I know I will return to Inter, I really hope so.”
