I help Premier League stars propose to their glamorous Wags – they pay up to £20,000 for a bespoke event

TODAY’S footballers are as romantic as ever.

In the past year, elaborate wedding proposals have been all the rage for the Premier League’s biggest stars.

Man Utd star Diogo Dalot drops to one knee to propose at the 5 star Shangri-La hotel

We’ve seen Aaron Ramsdale pop the question to his glamorous partner Georgina Irwin in front of a backdrop with a huge illuminated ‘Marry Me?’ sign.

While last month Man Utd’s Diogo Dalot hired a room at the five-star Shangri-La hotel, had it filled with roses and dropped to one knee to present a sparkling diamond ring to his fiancee, Claudia Lopes.

Helping them is professional proposal planner Daisy Amodio, who launched her company The Proposers 11 years ago.

Based in The Shard in London, they have organised over 4,000 proposals around the globe, including in Paris, Dubai and Santorini.

She revealed that footballers are happy to pay up to £20,000 for her services, that they love sharing on social media.

“They are always the easiest and most fun proposals to plan,” Daisy told SunSport.

“They don’t do anything crazy, they just want everything to be fresh and the best of the best.

“Where a lot of people will have faux flowers, footballers want a great florist to come in and make them a huge heart made out of real roses.

“All of them have been really lovely to work with. They are so busy and they don’t know anything about proposal planning, so they come to me for my expert opinion and they are always willing to listen.

“We attract a lot of footballers, but all kinds. Different leagues too – we cater to all types of budgets.

“You don’t have to be a super Premier League player on £400,000-per-week.

“However, they do all have the same thing in common. They want something swanky.”

Footballers are paying up to £20,000 for the once in a lifetime experience

Getting to know who they are helping plan their proposals plays its part.

Daisy and her team will research the pair’s social media pages to get an idea of their style.

“We cater it for the client’s needs. We find the girls on Instagram or TikTok, because we don’t always know these footballers.

“We’ll look up their girlfriend, see what they like. They might be a bit hippie or glamourous. They could have different tastes.

“We do stalk the girl as much as we can!”

The proposals, themselves, are as fancy as you can imagine.

“These guys see a picture and they say, ‘I want that’. But then I say to them, let’s tailor it a little bit to your relationship,” Amodio said.

“We will add things like a huge ‘Marry Me?’ signs, candles, fairy lights, petals, flowers, and decorate a table where they will have a three-course meal and champagne.

“Quite often, there’s live entertainment. They might have a violinist or a cellist playing romantic pop songs, like Ed Sheeran.

“We always have a photographer and videographer – because people want to remember what happened.

“The guys and girls are sometimes so overwhelmed so they like to see the footage, show their family, or put it on their social media.”

However, some footballers don’t always give Amodio and her team as much planning time.

She revealed: “Most guys only give us two-weeks notice, if we’re lucky – a month.

“But footballers tend to give us a few days notice!”

In one instance, one Premier League footballer called The Proposers just FIVE HOURS before he was planning to propose.

“It was all panic stations, we had to move so fast,” Amodio laughed.

“But we managed to book the couple a room at the Shangri-La and provide them with an amazing experience.”

All this, of course, doesn’t come cheap.

“We have packages that start at £2,000 and can go up to £5,000, which many people take us up on,” Amodio explained.

“Those deals offer a 5 star hotel, a luxury room to stay the night, it will have a lovely view, nice food, for their once-in-a-lifetime moment.

The Proposers alleviate the stress of asking, ‘Will you marry me?’

Daisy Amodio loves her job and bringing joy to the Premier League’s elite

“But most footballers are spending up to and beyond £20,000 with more add-ons on top of the usual services.

Through The Proposers, Amodio alleviates the pressure of a proposing.

“You can’t be worrying about the photographer not showing up or how to organise the petals properly, so this is where we come in,” she said.

“There’s a lot of stress involved in saying, ‘Will you marry me?’ let alone anything else.”

Amodio, who also has a second business called Daisy Amodio Events that plans weddings, loves what she does.

“It’s a really cute job because you are doing the biggest thing in their lives,” she added.

“It’s just pure happiness, they come to you really excited and they need help because they don’t know how to do it.

“It means you end up building a unique bond with some of them.

“We have even been asked to help plan their weddings afterwards.”
