I Scored Chelsea’s Winner Against Arsenal’s Invincibles in Champions League…And Then This Happened!

Wayne Bridge, the former professional football player, recently revealed a hilarious anecdote from his career. Bridge, who played for Chelsea, confessed that he once fell asleep in a nightclub after scoring the winning goal against Arsenal's Invincibles in the 2003-04 Champions League.

The Unbeaten Season

Arsenal's Invincibles famously remained unbeaten in the Premier League that season. However, they were dealt a blow in the Champions League quarter-finals by Chelsea.

A Night to Remember

It was a pivotal match for Bridge and his team. After a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea faced Arsenal at Highbury. Bridge's goal secured a 2-1 victory for Chelsea, knocking out their fierce rivals.

A Party to Forget

Bridge admitted that he was on cloud nine after the match and celebrated the victory in style. However, his celebrations got a bit out of hand. The left-back revealed that he got carried away with the drinks and shots that people kept buying him.

After a night of partying, Bridge fell asleep in the nightclub and was later woken up by cleaners. He added, "I almost got thrown out as I was in a bit of a state. So the lads covered me in pillows but then they forgot about me. So everyone's kicked out of the club, and I got found by the cleaners cleaning the club."

Bridge's Troubles with Drinking

This wasn't the first time Bridge's love for drinking got him into trouble. While playing for Southampton, he once commandeered a milk float to get to training after an all-night boozy bash. Bridge's antics led to a severe reprimand from his manager, Glenn Hoddle.

Despite his off-field shenanigans, Bridge's performances on the pitch earned him a move to Chelsea in 2003. He also represented England 36 times, showcasing his talent to the world.
