Premier League

I’m a former Premier League star but I’m done with football – now I deliver parcels for a living

From Football Flop to Courier Founder

Former West Ham player, Marco Boogers, has traded in his football boots for a different kind of delivery job – he's now the founder of a successful courier company. Boogers, who joined West Ham in 1996 but failed to make a lasting impact, has found success in the world of logistics.

A Rocky Career in Football

Boogers' time at West Ham was less than stellar, with the Dutch striker only making four sub appearances. Known for his high challenge on Gary Neville during a match against Manchester United, Boogers was sent off and received a four-match ban. Eventually, West Ham deemed him unfit for the team and he was replaced by Iain Dowie.

Despite the rocky start to his football career, Boogers found success playing for various Dutch clubs before retiring. He ended his post-West Ham career with Groningen and Waalwijk.

From Footballer to Entrepreneur

After his retirement from football, Boogers decided to pursue a different path. He founded the QLS Fulfilment & Pakketdienst logistics company in his hometown of Dordrecht. The company has since grown and now employs over 350 people. Boogers attributes the success of his business to the demand created by the coronavirus crisis.

In an interview with Dutch magazine ElfVoetbal, Boogers revealed that he has no regrets about leaving the world of football behind. His focus is now on his courier company and providing for his family's future. His son, Quincy, will be taking over the business.

A Change of Interests

Boogers has distanced himself from the world of football, turning down invitations to attend matches and rarely watching games. Despite owning an executive box at Dordrecht for four seasons, he has only attended twice in that time.

With his successful courier company and a new generation ready to take over, it seems that Boogers has truly found his calling outside the realm of football.
