Jamie Carragher branded a ‘lump of wood’ by ex-Argentina star Gorosito after claiming Lionel Messi called him a DONKEY

AN Argentinian football manager slammed Jamie Carragher after the Liverpool legend revealed Lionel Messi called him a donkey in an Instagram message.

The Sky Sports pundit went public with the message about Nestor Gorosito on Friday Night Football after Watford’s defeat by Norwich.

And Carragher reveal saying he wouldn’t be showing the details but insisted the former Barcelona striker, 34, had insulted Gorosito after he questioned his move to Paris Saint-Germain.

The retired Liverpool hero went on to profess his love and admiration for the “greatest player of all time.”

But overnight Gorosito, whose former clubs included River Plate and San Lorenzo tried to inflame the spat by branding Carragher “rubbish.”

He trolled the ex-Anfield defender, 43, in an explosive Twitter message, writing: “This lump of wood talks badly about Messi, what madness!!”

The former Argentina midfielder, 57, currently manages Gimnasia La Plata where Diego Maradona was in charge until his death from heart failure in November 2020.

He used the expression: ‘pedazo de tronco’ to describe Carragher.

And the Spanish phrase, which literally translates as ‘big piece of wood’, is the equivalent of branding someone as talentless.

The former Argentinian international’s tweet to his 69,400 followers went viral.

This is despite the fact he appeared to forget Carragher’s honours with Liverpool which include two FA Cups and one Champions League in a pro career spanning 17 years.

Gorosito has hit out at critics who questioned Messi’s commitment to Argentina

Gorosito, better known as Pipo Gorosito, has been one of Messi’s best allies off the football pitch following earlier attacks by compatriots who called his loyalty to Argentina into question

The striker went on to shut them up by helping his country to an historic Copa America win over Brazil last July.

Gorosito accused Barcelona president Joan Laporta of “kicking God out of his home” at the end of last season after the Argentinian announced he was leaving his boyhood club.
