Jamie Redknapp claims Antonio Conte might QUIT Tottenham if he doesn’t land transfer targets this month

ANTONIO CONTE could sensationally QUIT Tottenham in the near future should the club fail to bring in any players before the end of the winter transfer window.

That is according to former Spurs midfielder Jamie Redknapp following the 2-0 defeat away at Chelsea on Sunday.

Tottenham boss Antonio Conte has picked up 21 Premier League points from a possible 30 since taking charge

Though despite his first Premier League loss since succeeding Nuno Espirito Santo in November, Spurs remain in contention to finish in the top four this term.

The North London side may sit in sixth spot in the table, but they only trail fourth-placed Manchester United by two points with two games in hand over them.

However with Spurs yet to splash the cash this month, Redknapp has urged chairman Daniel Levy to back Conte as he stated the Italian gaffer must have been promised funds in order to take the job.

He told Sky Sports: “He needs players. When he came in after Nuno, there must have been some dialogue between him and Daniel Levy about the players he needs.

“He’s now had a couple of months to look at the squad and he’s done a great job getting them into this position.

“There’s a massive gulf between Chelsea, Man City and Liverpool and the rest. But Tottenham are so close to getting top four, which no other manager could have done, but he needs backing.

“He needs to get players in quickly – two, three, four players in the window and he’s got nine days to do it.

“Daniel Levy is a difficult man to deal with, but if you don’t back [Conte] – looking at his history at Inter Milan – I think he’ll leave the club because you can’t promise and not deliver.

“Tottenham fans must be so frustrated because every year, they watch their team and everything is great with the stadium and training ground – but the team needs a bit of help right now.

“So back him, give him what he needs.”

SunSport exclusively revealed last week how Spurs were prepared to fork out up to £50million in January to sign Wolves winger Adama Traore and Sevilla centre-back Diego Carlos.

Meanwhile Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum could seal a quick return to the English top-flight following his summer departure from Liverpool.

It has been claimed that Tottenham are in talks with Les Parisiens over a possible swap deal between the Dutch international and Tanguy Ndombele.
