Jesse Lingard set to be stuck on Man Utd bench as Nice pull out of loan transfer move with several clubs in talks

JESSE LINGARD could be stuck on Man Utd’s bench after Nice reportedly pulled out of a loan swoop.

The 28-year-old has barely featured for the Red Devils this season.

His only three appearances have come in the EFL Cup twice in September, and last weekend’s FA Cup third round win over Watford.

And the England midfielder looked set to leave on loan this month in a bid for first-team football.

Sky Sports reported that Lingard had held talks with Nice over a move to the south of France.

But now it seems the Ligue 1 side have gone cold on the 28-year-old Red Devil.

ESPN reported that Lingard and Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer are in a tug-of-war.

Lingard is desperate to play more having not appeared in a single Premier League game.

But Solskjaer is keen to keep hold of him with a busy schedule ahead in the Premier League, FA Cup and Europa League.

The Red Devils exercised their one-year option to keep hold of Lingard until 2022.

Lingard would have plenty of suitors if Man Utd are willing to let him go.

Sheffield United, Tottenham and West Ham are said to have been interested in him while Real Sociedad also reportedly held talks.

The 24-cap midfielder hasn’t played for England since the Nations League finals in June 2019.

And with the delayed Euros scheduled to take place this summer, Lingard will be keen to force his way back into national team reckoning.
