Juventus ‘ask for Thomas Partey in swap transfer for Arthur’ as talks with Arsenal over deal for midfielder continue

JUVENTUS have asked for Thomas Partey in a swap transfer with Arthur, according to reports.

But it is understood Arsenal are unwilling to allow their Ghanaian star to be part of a deal.

Arthur is expected to make the switch to North London

According to Sky Sports Italy, though, the two clubs are still in negotiations over a potential transfer for Arthur.

The Gunners are in desperate need of bolstering their midfield and Mikel Arteta is a big fan of the former Barcelona man.

SunSport understands Juventus are happy for the Brazilian to leave but want to sign a replacement first with Aaron Ramsey also set to depart.

And that is why they wanted to try and get Partey as part of the deal.

But the Gunners would not want to let arguably their No1 midfielder go in order to bring another one in.

Partey, 28, joined the club from Atletico Madrid for £45million in 2020.

After struggling initially, he was enjoying his best form under Arteta before heading off to the Africa Cup of Nations.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles has joined Roma on loan while Granit Xhaka remains a target for Jose Mourinho too.

Arthur, 25, is under contract at the Allianz Stadium until the end of the 2024-25 season.

But he has played just 29 times in Serie A during his 18-month spell so far since swapping with Miralem Pjanic.

It is more likely the ex-Gremio youngster will sign a loan deal in North London until the end of the season.

Arthur is ready to fly in this week and sign until the summer if the move is given the green light.

He is looking to get more first-team action ahead of the World Cup in Qatar with Brazil in November.
