Kenny Dalglish embraces Jurgen Klopp after Carabao Cup final that saw Liverpool beat Chelsea on penalties

LIVERPOOL legends Kenny Dalglish and Jurgen Klopp were involved in a warm embrace after their side won the Carabao Cup at the weekend.

A goalless draw against Chelsea at Wembley saw the final decided by penalties.

After 21 successive spot-kicks, Chelsea sub keeper Kepa blazed his effort well over as Klopp’s side bagged the silverware.

As Klopp made his way through the tunnel back to the dressing room after the celebrations, he bumped into Dalglish.

The pair hugged it out, before Klopp reminded Dalglish that he was the last Anfield manager to win the cup.

That came in 2012 when the Reds beat Cardiff, also on penalties, after a 1-1 draw.

Dalglish joked: “Your penalties weren’t as good as ours. The first one ended up in the top tier!”

Ten years ago Liverpool missed their first THREE penalties, including from hometown hero Steve Gerrard, but still secured the trophy with a 3-2 win.

Charlie Adam also missed, but Dirk Kuyt, Stewart Downing and Glen Johnson found the target.

On Sunday Klopp’s side won the Carabao Cup after beating Chelsea 11-10 on penalties after the match finished 0-0.

Kepa Arrizabalaga missed the crucial penalty and saved none despite coming on late in extra-time to do just that.

Chelsea had three goals ruled out for offside in normal time while Liverpool had one of their own disallowed.

But victory was for Liverpool, who haven’t won a domestic cup since Dalglish’s side led them to glory.
