Keown advises Arsenal to sign two Genk defenders despite watching them concede FOUR goals to Liverpool

MARTIN KEOWN believes Arsenal should push the boat out to sign Genk’s defensive duo despite conceding four to Liverpool last night.

The former Gunners centre-back was more than impressed with Colombian pair Carlos Cuesta and Jhon Lucumi in the Belgium side’s 4-1 Champions League defeat to the Reds.

Keown wants Arsenal to land the young Genk pair

Arsenal have struggled to sign a good centre-back since Laurent Koscielny was at the peak of his game.

Their back four remains a huge weakness but Keown believes he finally has the answer to the club’s ongoing issue.

A pundit for BT Sport last night, Keown said after the game: “(Cuesta) looks some player by the way, both Colombian central defenders look pretty decent.

“If I was an Arsenal scout – and never have been, never been asked to comment ever as a former player on prospective purchases – these two are not bad, I can tell you.”

Cuesta, 20, has played 16 times for the Colombian Under-20 side while Lucumi, 21, has two international caps to his name.

Arsenal boss Unai Emery has maintained his faith in pair Sokratis and David Luiz this season but they have come under heavy fire from supporters following a lack of form.

And it appears the Spaniard has his own target in mind in Red Bull Leipzig youngster Dayot Upamecano.

SunSport exclusively revealed how Arsenal will make a cut-price 40million move for the defender with his contract expiring at the end of next season.

Arsenalare expected to make their move either in January or the summer – but Upamecano is firmly on their radar as the centre-back they want.
