Kevin De Bruyne admits Man Utd rival Bruno Fernandes is a ‘wonderful player’ and ‘makes football look fun’

KEVIN DE BRUYNE has heaped praise on Manchester United rival Bruno Fernandes ahead of the derby.

Manchester City playmaker De Bruyne has been hugely impressed with Fernandes since his move to Old Trafford.

Bruno Fernandes has been a revelation since moving to Manchester United

The two attacking midfielders will lock horns in today’s huge derby clash and De Bruyne has been glowing in his praise for his opponent.

De Bruyne told Sky Sports: “He’s a wonderful player.

“He came in and he gave United a different momentum.

“They were struggling last year, I know they had some games where they won against good teams but the consistency wasn’t there last year for them.

“That’s much improved this year and Fernandes is a big reason for that. He’s a guy who makes football look fun.

“We’re pretty similar in a way but I don’t compare myself to other players. I enjoy other players but I never compare.”

Fernandes was instrumental in United’s improved form in the second half of last season after joining in January.

The 26-year-old scored eight goals and provided seven assists as he helped the side finish inside the top four.

The Portugal attacker has scored seven goals in ten Premier League games this season and will be one of the main dangers for City in tonight’s clash at Old Trafford.

De Bruyne has great respect for his counterpart and knows the visitors will need to keep Fernandes quiet if they are to claim the derby win.
