Kieran Trippier Newcastle’s ‘No1 transfer target’ in January as Eddie Howe eyes reunion to avoid Prem relegation

KIERAN TRIPPIER is reportedly Newcastle’s No1 transfer target in January.

The Telegraph claims Eddie Howe is desperate for a reunion with his former Burnley player this winter as Newcastle look to beat the drop.

Kieran Trippier is Newcastle’s top target this winter

Mega-rich Toon are three points from safety after winning just once this term.

And Atletico Madrid star Trippier, 31, is seen as an ideal signing to lead Newcastle back up the table.

The England right-back has already held talks with Howe despite nursing a shoulder injury.

Trippier’s current Atletico deal expires at the end of the season, although a one-year extension will be triggered when he starts 20 matches.

The former Tottenham ace is said to be open to a Premier League return after seeing a summer move to Manchester United collapse.

Atletico were demanding £25million for their title-winning full-back after Euro 2020.

But Newcastle could get Trippier for less with his contract running down.

The Magpies are also hoping to snap up highly-rated Lille centre-back Sven Botman.

He helped the Champions League last 16 club to the French title in May.

And there are other Euro giants hoping to land him when the January market opens.
