SOUTHAMPTON succumbed to a second-half Liverpool blitz at Anfield as the Reds continued their relentless march to the title.
The Saints had made it difficult in an entertaining opening 45 on Merseyside, but the match swivelled on a crucial 60 second period at the beginning of the second period.
After former Red Danny Ings saw his shouts for a penalty waved away at one end, Liverpool subsequently broke downfield with former Saint Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain turning the ball home.
Jordan Henderson then added a second after converting Roberto Firmino’s cut-back – before turning provider himself for Mo Salah to bag Liverpool’s third.
The Egyptian then added gloss to the scoreline with a late fourth.
The victory takes Liverpool a staggering 22 POINTS above Manchester City in distant second, ahead of the Sky Blues’ trip to Tottenham tomorrow.
