Liverpool flop Loris Karius close to ending his Anfield nightmare as he lines up Union Berlin transfer

LIVERPOOL flop Loris Karius is reportedly close to completing a season-long loan move to Union Berlin.

The goalkeeper has not played for Jurgen Klopp’s side since his horror show in the 2018 Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid.

Loris Karius looks set to continue his career in Germany’s Bundesliga

BBC Sport claim the Bundesliga side are set to offer the 27-year-old a career lifeline.

Karius has failed to live up to expectations at Anfield since his £4.7million move from Mainz in 2016.

And he has not redeemed his spot in the squad since his double howler in the final two years ago.

He rolled the ball into the path of Karim Benzema and then dropped Gareth Bale’s strike into the net.

Liverpool then shipped him out on a two-year loan deal and signed Alisson as their new No1 keeper.

Karius joined Turkish Super Lig side Besiktas, where he made 67 appearances across almost two seasons.

But the German star tore up his contract following a dispute over pay.

He returned to training with Liverpool last month – but has been on the lookout for a new club.

Hertha Berlin – who finished 11th in the Spanish top-flight last term – have also been linked to him.

Speaking to Transfermarkt, the error-prone keeper claimed he wants first-team football at his next club.

He said: “Of course, I have to play if I do actually change clubs.

“It makes no sense, ‘I’m leaving Liverpool for a worse club and I’m only number two there’.

“But I am not in a pressure situation at all, I do not have to change.”
