Liverpool legend Graeme Souness ‘set to quit Sky Sports at end of season’ after 16 years as pundit

GRAEME SOUNESS is likely to retire from Sky punditry duties at the end of the season, according to reports.

The Liverpool and Rangers legend, 69, has made more sporadic appearances than usual on Sky Sports’ Premier League coverage this season.

Graeme Souness is set to hang up the mic after 16 years

Souness has tended to sign three-year contract extensions since working for Sky.

But according to The Athletic, he was “happy” to only pen a one-year extension at the end of last season.

They add that his latest deal was only for a reduced, set number of appearances.

Souness has been a regular fixture on Sky Sports since joining the broadcaster full-time in 2006.

Joining Sky marked the end of his 20-year managerial career, with his last job at Newcastle United between 2004 and 2006.

Souness will turn 70-years-old before the end of this season and is “set to take a step back”.

In addition to Sky, Souness has also done punditry work for Rangers TV and ITV in recent years.

He memorably worked for the latter during England’s fiery Euro 2020 clash with Scotland last year.
