Liverpool ‘make £77m Federico Chiesa offer’ after Juventus star’s stunning form for Italy at Euro 2020

LIVERPOOL have reportedly launched a £77million raid to land Federico Chiesa following his stunning form for Italy at Euro 2020.

Yet Repubblica claim Juventus chief Andrea Agnelli swiftly turned down the offer after Massimiliano Allegri persuaded him that the 23-year-old is a big part of his plans for next season.

Liverpool have joined Chelsea in the race to sign Italy star Federico Chiesa

Chiesa was one of the players of the tournament this summer as he helped Italy win their first European Championship since 1968.

He is currently halfway through a two-year loan spell in Turin from Fiorentina where he lifted the Coppa Italia last term.

The Old Lady have an obligation to permanently sign him next year and he has been listed as untouchable at the Allianz Stadium.

SunSport previously reported earlier this month that Chelsea have already been rebuffed by Juventus in their quest to sign Chiesa for £85m.

And now Liverpool are thought to have been denied with a slightly smaller bid as they look to provide competition for their fabled front three.

Jurgen Klopp’s interest in Chiesa is thought to have dated back to 2018 when the winger was enjoying a breakout year at Fiorentina.

Liverpool’s perceived lack of depth in attack to challenge Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino has been a talking point for years.

Diogo Jota arrived from Wolves last summer but the likes of Xherdan Shaqiri, Divock Origi, and Harry Wilson all believed to be up for sale.

Bayern Munich meanwhile are also interested in Chiesa but boss Julian Nagelsmann conceded recently that he could prove too costly.

He remarked: “Chiesa is a great player, I think he’s extraordinary.

“He’s very fast with very good dribbling and finishing, but he also has a very, very high pricetag.”
