Liverpool ‘make Chelsea star Mason Mount their No1 transfer target’ after pulling out of Jude Bellingham race

MASON MOUNT is now Liverpool’s number one transfer target after cooling their interest in Jude Bellingham, reports suggest.

The Chelsea star has been heavily linked with an exit amid ongoing speculation regarding his future.

It comes after they cooled their interest in Jude Bellingham

His contract will have just 12 months left to run in the summer.

But thus far Mount and Chelsea have been unable to agree fresh terms with a reported price tag of £70million set on him.

Previous reports have suggested this is due to the 24-year-old not wanting to commit to one of Todd Boehly’s super-long contracts.

And with Liverpool now cooling their interest in Bellingham due to Borussia Dortmund‘s massive price tag, Mount has gone up to number one in the club’s priorities, according to Football.London.

The Reds are looking to overhaul their ageing midfield in the summer.

At least two new signings are wanted in order to incorporate Jurgen Klopp’s high-intensity system.

England star Bellingham had been their main target.

But with Liverpool‘s budget set to be reduced with Champions League football next season looking unlikely, they believe it’s better to sign two or three players rather than splash £130m on Bellingham.

Mount missed the first game under interim Blues boss Frank Lampard – a 1-0 loss to Wolves.

However, Mount is back in contention to face Real Madrid after travelling with the squad.

Lampard revealed Thiago Silva and N’Golo Kante are also available to play.
