LUCAS MOURA has urged Harry Kane to stay at Tottenham – because it would be difficult to replace him.

Spurs are bracing themselves for a £200million bid from Manchester United for England captain Kane after he hinted he is ready to seek a new challenge in a bid to win silverware.

But Brazilian Moura wants his team-mate to remain at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The Samba star said: “It’s hard to speak about the future, about a negotiation because it’s a personal decision. I’m sure that every season Tottenham receive offers for Harry Kane.

“It’s not me who has to decide, but of course I want to play with him next season. I want to stay with him because he’s very important for us and it’s not easy to find a player like him.

“Everyone knows he’s a big player. He’s very important for us, he’s our striker and scores almost every game.”

Kane, 26, who came through the ranks at Tottenham, has established himself as one of the most prolific centre-forwards in Europe after racking up 181 goals in 278 club appearances.

He was upset when previous boss Mauricio Pochettino was sacked and replaced by Jose Mourinho in November.

The striker then suffered another blow when he ruptured a tendon in his left hamstring in Spurs’ 1-0 defeat at Southampton on New Year’s Day.

The injury required surgery but he was closing in on a return when football was halted last month due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Moura added: “‘I’m sure that Mourinho wants to keep him. He counts on him for the rest of the season as well as for the next one.”

Mourinho has endured a tough start to his Tottenham tenure following their exit from the Champions League and FA Cup, along with their uphill battle to remain in the Prem’s top four.

Spurs currently sit eighth in the table, seven points below fourth, and Mourinho was widely slammed for breaking lockdown rules when he was photographed taking a training session with £65m midfield flop Tanguy Ndombele in a public park in Barnet.

The Portuguese manager later issued a statement admitting he was wrong to play outside in the current climate.

But Moura defended his gaffer, saying: “Mourinho of course cares about our fitness.

“He loves football, he loves training, so I think he wanted to see everyone and make sure everyone is taking care of our body shape.

“For sure, he’s taking care about himself as well. I don’t think it was a big problem. He knows and he’s a very professional guy.

“Mourinho goes to the training centre every day with his staff and all professionals who give us the training sessions. And we see everyone in the online application at 11am every day.

“It’s a good time, it’s a good moment for everyone, but the training session is normally hard. But it’s good for us because we don’t know when we will be back.

“But it’s a good time and Mourinho watches the session and speaks with us every day.”

Asked when football should resume, Moura said: “I don’t know, to be honest, if it is safe because maybe I have the virus without having symptoms.

Then I can touch a team-mate or a rival and spread it and we don’t know…

“I’m not sure what is best to do. If it’s to play or not to play, play with fans or without, it’s a hard situation to decide.
