Luis Enrique set for return to management as he’s ‘favourite’ for top job after being overlooked for Chelsea and Spurs

LUIS ENRIQUE has emerged as the favourite to land the Paris Saint-Germain job, according to reports.

The former Barcelona boss has been out of work since being sacked by Spain following their shock World Cup exit at the hands of Morocco.

Luis Enrique has been out of work since December

Enrique, 53, was linked with previously vacant gigs at Chelsea and Tottenham earlier this summer.

The Prem duo opted for Mauricio Pochettino and Ange Postecoglou instead, respectively.

PSG were locked in talks with former Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann, following Christophe Galtier’s departure.

But L’Equipe report that negotiations with the German have broken down, opening the door for Enrique.

According to Bild reporter Tobi Altschaffl, the Spaniard is now the favourite to land the job.

He previously managed Barcelona’s B team, Celta Vigo and Roma, before taking over the Catalan giants’ first team.

With Barca he won two LaLiga titles, three Copa del Reys and a Champions League before leaving in 2017.

A year later he took over as Spain manager, guiding them to the semi-finals of Euro 2020 before crashing out of the 2022 World Cup in the round of 16.
