The striker, 35, will leave this summer after two years at the Wanda Metropolitano following a stint at Barcelona.

Atletico fans showed their appreciation to the veteran, unveiling a banner which read: “Thank you Lucho for making us champions.”

Suarez scored 21 goals last season to help Diego Simeone’s side to the title – the 19th trophy of his career.

And although he has not been a regular for Atletico this season Suarez still has 12 goals to his name, sparking transfer interest.
