MANCHESTER CITY scored a controversial second goal at home to Aston Villa after a check from VAR -despite Raheem Sterling clearly being offside.
After Sterling gave his side a 1-0 lead within a minute of the second-half, he was then involved heavily in the next goal.
Kevin De Bruyne swung the ball in from the left flank following a short corner with David Silva getting a faint touch as it trickled into the net.
But City ace Sterling was in an offside position as he stood in front of Villa goalkeeper Tom Heaton.
While the England star didn’t touch the ball, he did have to do his best Matrix impression to avoid getting hit.
VAR checked the goal to ensure Sterling didn’t interfere, ultimately allowing the goal to stand.
But fans on Twitter could barely believe it, with the former Liverpool winger clearly obstructing Heaton.
One fan wrote: “VAR = Villa Are Robbed.”
Another tweeted: “Man City and VAR? A better love story than Twilight…”
A third said: “My nan can referee better than the clown who works at VAR.”
One tried to get the bottom of the situation, writing: “VAR definitely getting that one wrong.
“Sterling offside when De Bruyne hits it, and clearly in the keepers way.
“How long did they spend looking at whether Silva touched it, when he was on-side anyway.”
