MANCHESTER CITY will battle Juventus and Barcelona to sign Lillian Thuram’s son Marcus from Borussia Monchengladbach, according to reports.
The 23-year-old’s dad is a former Juve and France legend and he appears to have picked up his old man’s talent.
Thuram Jr is a forward rather than a defensive rock like his dad and has been a revelation since joining ‘Gladbach from French outfit Guingamp last summer.
He signed for the Bundesliga side in a £10million deal which raised a few eyebrows in Germany.
But with 17 goals and 14 assists from 49 game since, he is destined for big things.
And City, Juventus and Barca are all keen for him to do it at their clubs, according to Bild.
Juve may have the edge as Lillian spent five years in Turin before his 2006 move to the Nou Camp.
He only spent two years in Catalonia before he retired in 2008.
Thuram Sr won the 1998 World Cup with France and also played for Monaco and Parma during his decorated career.
Last month, Marcus was forced to Google HIMSELF in order to prove who he was for a stadium ID check.
He was embarrassingly made to use the internet to bypass tight San Siro security before ‘Gladbach’s Champions League game against Inter Milan.
And the club’s official Twitter account tweeted about the exchange with photos of Thuram searching his own name online, before later deleting the post.
The mix-up is likely to have been caused by the fact Thuram was sporting a face mask amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
In a moment of inspiration, the forward pulled down his mask so the guard on duty could match his face to the images Google pulled up.
Fortunately, Thuram was eventually allowed in to take his place alongside boss Marco Rose for the press conference.
