Man City’s £90m transfer bid for Declan Rice REJECTED as Arsenal plan to go back in with THIRD offer for England star

MANCHESTER CITY have seen their bid for Declan Rice REJECTED by West Ham.

It comes after the club submitted a £90million offer for the 24-year-old.

West Ham have rejected Man City’s bid for Declan Rice

The bid from the Treble winners remained £10m shy of West Ham‘s price tag of £100m.

City‘s bid was structured as £80m plus £10m in add-ons.

In terms of structure, this had trumped Arsenal‘s second club record offer of £75m plus £15m in add-ons.

However, SunSport understands the Gunners are planning a third bid in the next 24 hours in an effort to land the England star.

Rice is said to prefer a move to the Emirates.

But City had been waiting for assurances from Rice about being willing to move before submitting their opening offer.

Rice turned down a bumper new contract from West Ham in order to pursue a move elsewhere this summer.

Following the Hammers success in the Europa Conference League, Co-owner David Sullivan confirmed Rice would be leaving.

He said: “I think it has to be [his last game]. We promised him he could go. He set his heart on going.

“You can’t ask for a man who has committed more to us this season. In due course, he has to get on and we have to get a replacement – or several replacements.

“It’s not something we want to happen. We offered him £200,000-a-week 18 months ago. He turned it down.

“It’s cost him £10million to stay at West Ham in that time (in lost wages). And he wants to go. You can’t keep a player who doesn’t want to be there.”

Pep Guardiola is said to view Rice as a replacement for Ilkay Gundogan, whose departure from the club was confirmed yesterday.

Both Man City and Arsenal are closing in on their first signings of the window.

City are set to land Chelsea star Mateo Kovacic in a £30m deal, while Kai Havertz is on the brink of an Arsenal move after a picture of him wearing a kit was seemingly leaked by a fan online.
