Man Utd and Arsenal in Dominic Calvert-Lewin transfer fight as Newcastle prepare huge bid for Everton striker

NEWCASTLE are set to make a bid for Manchester United and Arsenal transfer target Dominic Calvert-Lewin, according to reports.

The striker, 25, had an injury-hit campaign and scored just five Premier League goals.

Newcastle are set to rival Arsenal and Manchester United for Dominic Calvert-Lewin

But he has proven himself a reliable goalscorer in the past and Newcastle boss Eddie Howe is after a mobile target man – with Calvert-Lewin fitting the bill.

Toon have funds to spend thanks to their Saudi ownership and could be prepared to meet Everton’s large demands, report The Mirror.

Everton will reportedly only sell if they receive a bid that matches their valuation of the striker – one which takes into account his importance to the club and his status as an England international.

The Toffees recorded losses of £250million over the last two years and they will need to sell before they can buy due to financial fair play restrictions.

That means they could be prepared to let Calvert-Lewin leave – which is also good news for Arsenal and United.

Both clubs are believed to have been keeping tabs on the striker since last summer with the pair now on the lookout for more firepower.

Arsenal are set to get rid of Alexandre Lacazette and have been linked with a host of transfer targets, including Manchester City star Gabriel Jesus.

And the Gunners may have to explore those options soon with Frank Lampard issuing a hands-off warning to clubs eyeing Calvert-Lewin.

He said of his striker: ” He is contracted to us, three years left on his contract, and I want to take this club forward and players like Dominic help that.
