A number of international talents were on show at the under 23 Tenerife Tournament in Gran Canaria

And according to Portuguese newspaper Record, both English clubs have sent their scouts out to keep an eye on one or two potential signings.

Brazilian youngster Reinier is someone Arsenal are reportedly keen to strike a deal with.

It has been rumoured that Unai Emery’s side have already met with the attacking midfielder’s father in a bid to try and steal him away from Flamengo.

One of The Gunners’ recent acquisitions, Gabriel Martinelli, was also in action at the tournament.

The 18-year-old has impressed since joining the North London outfit, bagging seven goals in nine appearances including a brace against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup.

He reached the final with Brazil but they were beaten 1-0 in the final by Argentina thanks to a strike from 19-year-old Boca Juniors midfielder Nicolas Capaldo.

United, on the other hand, have a chequered past when it comes to South American signings.

They have acquired a number of Brazilian players who have failed to live up to expectations – Kleberson, Anderson, Fred and Andreas Pereira to name just a few.

But they remain confident of securing successful deals in North and South America, having shown an interest in some of the young prospects from Argentina, Chile and the USA.
