Man Utd and Newcastle in Jean-Clair Todibo transfer battle as Nice set asking price for former Barcelona defender

MANCHESTER UNITED and Newcastle have registered an interest in former Barcelona defender Jean-Clair Todibo, according to reports.

The Frenchman joined Ligue 1 outfit Nice from Barca for just £8million last summer.

Todibo has impressed at Nice in the past two seasons

Todibo enjoyed a standout campaign, playing 40 times across all competitions and helping Nice to a fifth-placed finish.

Nice will now contest the Europa Conference League in the upcoming season.

But according to Foot Mercato, Nice may have to play next season WITHOUT Todibo, who is attracting interest from a number of European clubs.

Premier League duo Man Utd and Newcastle are keen on the 22-year-old.

Both are in the market for defensive reinforcements with bosses Erik ten Hag and Eddie Howe set to take charge of their first full seasons at their clubs.

However, United and Newcastle will face competition from clubs in Italy and Spain.

Sevilla and Napoli are also tracking Todibo’s progess.

The Spanish side are in the market for a defender with Jules Kounde potentially departing for Chelsea this summer.
