Man Utd and Rangers hope to poach Man City starlet Charlie McNeill, 16, who has 600 goals at youth level

MANCHESTER UNITED and Rangers are reportedly set to battle it out for 16-year-old Charlie McNeill.

The teenager looks likely to leave Manchester City after scoring more than 600 goals for the club at youth level.

Charlie McNeill is not expected to sign a new deal with Manchester City

According to Sportsmail, Rangers are the latest club to signal their interest in him.

Steven Gerrard’s outfit reportedly held talks with McNeill’s representatives at the weekend.

But United have also set their sights on the England youth star.

McNeill has proved his potential during his six-year stay with City.

But he looks set to leave the Etihad after talks over extending his deal collapsed.

The 16-year-old has scored around 600 goals for City at youth level since 2014.

Italian giants Juventus and Red Bull Leipzig have also been linked to McNeill.

Goalscorer McNeill would not be the first prodigy to leave City before making the first team.

Jadon Sancho famously left for Borussia Dortmund in 2017 and became a star.

City also look set to lose 15-year-old Jamie Bynoe-Gittens to Borussia Dortmund this summer.
