OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER has pleaded with Manchester United fans to let the team deliver on the pitch.
The Liverpool game was postponed due to fans protests 10 days ago and there are threats of more trouble before one or both of this week’s home matches.
United face Leicester tonight followed by the rearranged Liverpool clash on Thursday and Old Trafford security has been beefed up.
Extra fencing, barriers and screens have been put up to avoid the scenes of last week when protesters broke through security barriers and invaded the pitch.
Solskjaer said: “I hope we can keep the protests, if there are protests, keep them down to loud voices — nothing violent.
“We want to listen, the players want to play the game, of course we want to beat Liverpool and we want to beat Leicester so we’re going to do everything we can for our fans to celebrate what we’re doing on the pitch.”
A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: “We have reviewed our approach again following the events of last weekend and planned appropriate resourcing to ensure the safety of all those present.”
Sunday’s win at Aston Villa coupled with other results secured United a top four spot and Champions League football.
But rivals Man City will the title if United lose one more game.
Meanwhile, Solskjaer revealed he received a personal apology from the Glazers over the ESL debacle that sparked the protests.
Solskjaer said: “I’ve been communicating with the owners and I’ve had a personal apology.
“I’ve always had a good relationship and they listen to me and they do listen to the fans. I’m sure there will be better communication coming.
“I know that communication has started between other individuals and the fans.
“We know we need to communicate better, if you refer back to the apology they all accepted it was the wrong thing to do.”
