Man Utd fans gloat at Liverpool losing chance to win Treble with Chelsea defeat marking Jurgen Klopp’s worst run at club

FIRST it was Arsenal supporters and now it is the turn of Manchester United’s fans to gloat over a Liverpool defeat.

Gunners fans across the country were in celebration on Saturday as the Reds suffered a shock defeat to Watford in the Premier League.

Jurgen Klopp’s hopes of leading Liverpool to a treble were ended at Chelsea

That ensured the North London team maintained the crown of being the only team to go a whole campaign unbeaten following their epic Invincibles 2003-04 season.

However, despite that setback, Jurgen Klopp‘s side were still on course to repeat United‘s stunning treble exploits from 1999 as the runaway Prem leaders still battled on the Champions League and FA Cup front.

But goals from Willian and Ross Barkley not only ended their hopes of Wembley joy in May, it also made it three defeats out of four for Klopp.

That was a third consecutive away loss – and the United faithful could not resist taking to Twitter to rub salt in the wound.

One wrote: “Never compare this Liverpool team to the 1999 treble team ever again 99 team was way clear.”

Another said: “They were already comparing this Liverpool side to a treble winning (key word winning) side, before a trophy had even been lifted….. get outttaaa hereeeee.”

A fellow gloater tweeted: “Liverpool really lost their invincibles & treble hopes in the space of 4 days. The beautiful game might just be back.”

Another wrote: “No treble. No invincible season. All this Liverpool side will be remembered for is FINALLY winning a trophy they hadn’t won in over 30 years. That’s it. That’s the legacy.”

As one even claimed: “Liverpool didn’t go invincible, can’t win the treble and are probably out of the UCL too. Just a glorified 15/16 Leicester City.”

Despite their latest setback, Klopp remained defiant afterwards, saying: “Losing 2-0 is not cool. But it’s relatively easy to explain – two massive mistakes around the goals.

“Usually you don’t get many chances against us but we’ve conceded too many goals recently.

“The performance was completely different to Watford. Tonight’s performance was not bad.

“It’s a free world you can interpret how you want. But I don’t sit here and think the way back to when we score goals and don’t concede is a hundred miles away. It’s not.

“We need to show a reaction like we have done before.”
