Man Utd joined in Mike Maignan transfer race with Tottenham as Mourinho eyes Lille keeper as Lloris replacement

JOSE MOURINHO has eyed Lille goalkeeper Mike Maignan as a replacement for Hugo Lloris, according to reports.

The French 24-year-old has attracted admirers across the Premier League, with Spurs and Manchester United in the chase for the Ligue 1 star.

Jose Mourinho has eyed Lille keeper Mike Maignan as a replacement for Hugo Lloris

The Special One is on the hunt to replace World Cup winner, Lloris, 33, following some shaky performances before his horror elbow injury earlier in the season.

The French stopper has kept just two clean sheets in 18 appearances this campaign.

Spurs’ Paulo Gazzaniga failed to set the world alight – also recording just two clean sheets in the 18 Premier League games in which he replaced Lloris and it seems fans are beginning to feel it is time for a change between the sticks.

According to LeSport10 Mourinho has identified Maignan as a top summer transfer target and a suitable replacement for Lloris.

The Lille ace might be the best option for The Spurs boss, with the 24-year-old keeping five clean sheets in seven games for a decent side, currently sitting fourth in Ligue 1.

Maignan was voted the best keeper in the French top flight for the 2018/19 campaign and earned his first France call-up for the Euro 2020 qualifiers last year.

After an impressive run last season, Lille valued the 24-year-old at £31m.

The Frenchman is also hot on the Red Devils’ transfer radar and the club was linked with the Lille stopper last summer.

United will be eyeing an alternative in case they lose David De Gea, 29, this summer.

The Spanish stopper hasn’t quite looked himself for some time now – having made a few high-profile gaffs against the likes of Watford and Everton this season

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane reportedly remains a huge fan of Manchester United’s keeper and wants him to replace Thibaut Courtois.

United would demand £70million for the Spanish ace, who only signed a new £375,000-a-week contract in September.
