Man Utd missed out on ALL of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s transfer targets this summer including Sancho, Grealish and Ake

OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER missed out on ALL of his summer transfer targets – including Jadon Sancho and Jack Grealish.

The Manchester United boss had huge plans for this summer, hoping to bring in a host of star talent.

Solskjaer missed out on all of his top transfer targets in the summer

Man Utd most-famously missed out on £108m-rated Jadon Sancho

Having missed out on Erling Haaland in January, Solskjaer was determined to spend big and revamp his lacklustre squad.

But, despite a deadline-day panic spree, the Norwegian missed out on every, single one of his top targets.

United signed Donny van de Beek from Ajax in a £40million deal fairly early in the summer.

After that, though, the club waiting until deadline day – when they brought in Edinson Cavani on a two-year, £200,000-a-week deal.

United also signed Alex Telles from Porto, Facundo Pellestri and Amad Traore – with the latter not joining until January.

But Solskjaer would be well within his rights to be frustrated by the work of the Man Utd board this summer.

After all, the chase for Sancho had been in the works since the turn of the year.

Borussia Dortmund had made it clear from the get-go they wanted £108million for the 20-year-old England star.

But time and time again, United gambled with low-ball offers – such as £70m up-front with the rest paid in instalments – and missed clear deadlines set by the Bundesliga giants.

The club realised too late they wouldn’t get Sancho and ultimately signed two youngsters who will surely have to wait for first-team action.

United also missed out on back-up options Ousmane Dembele, Douglas Costa and Federico Chiesa.

It was later revealed the club had offered Sancho LESS money to join than he is currently earning.

United made it clear early in the year they were keen on Grealish, too.

But they failed to make a move after being priced-out – saving money in the hope they would sign Sancho – with Grealish signing a new deal at Aston Villa.

Solskjaer was keen on Nathan Ake before he joined rivals Man City

Then there’s Nathan Ake – whom Solskjaer was publicly keen on ever since Man Utd played Bournemouth in July, when he took the defender aside for a chat.

The Dutch star, though, joined rivals Manchester City early in the window, as Pep Guardiola wasted no time bolstering his squad.

In defence, Dayot Upamecano was another top target of Solskjaer – but United failed to make a move and the Frenchman signed a new three-year contract at RB Leipzig.

While not necessarily a top target – particularly after signing Van de Beek – United were also linked with a move for Thiago Alcantara.

Despite Liverpool taking their time in negotiations with Bayern Munich, United – again – opted against a swoop.
