MANCHESTER UNITED are reportedly on red alert over Thomas Tuchel.
The Daily Mail claims United are monitoring the Chelsea manager’s situation amid uncertainty over the Blues’ future.
Thomas Tuchel admits he is ‘scared’ about Chelsea’s future
Interim boss Ralf Rangnick is said to privately see his old protege as an option following the Government’s decision to sanction Roman Abramovich.
Tuchel, 48, worked with Rangnick at Ulm and Stuttgart 25 years ago and has won the Champions League, Club World Cup and Uefa Super Cup in just 14 months at Stamford Bridge.
SunSport understands there has been no approach from United and the club would not do so unless the German made it clear he wanted to explore other options.
Mauricio Pochettino and Erik ten Hag have both reportedly been contacted about becoming Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s permanent successor.
Zinedine Zidane and Carlo Ancelotti are also in the mix.
Rangnick wants to stay on as manager but is set to take up an advisory role.
He yesterday hailed Tuchel but refused to say whether he could manage United.
Rangnick said: “It doesn’t make sense at all to even think or speculate about that.
“Yes, Thomas Tuchel is a top manager, yes I know him well, yes he was a player of mine, yes he took his first job as a coach in Stuttgart when I was the head coach.
“He is the manager of Chelsea right now. They’re third and still in the Champions League.
“There are issues now around the ownership of this club, (so) to speculate about him being a candidate for the job here in the summer doesn’t make sense.”

Meanwhile former PSG boss Tuchel admitted he and his Chelsea staff and players are ‘frightened’ and ‘scared’ over the crisis which has gripped the club.
He said: “Some players will feel uncertainty. Some maybe will be a bit frightened. Some will be concerned. It’s normal. And not only the players.
“We have a lot of people on the staff, in the club who are maybe also worried and scared and uncertain.
“That’s why it’s very important that we keep the trust and the belief in the training centre, in all of us.
“We rely on ourselves and in the end allow ourselves to be the guys who take care of the sport. We did not cause the situation. We cannot solve the situation.”
