Man Utd outcast Anthony Martial wanted by Atletico Madrid who could offer Kieran Trippier in swap transfer

ATLETICO MADRID could offer Manchester United long-term target Kieran Trippier in exchange for wantaway star Anthony Martial, reports say.

The two teams will face off next year in the knockout stages of the Champions League, but they could look to help each other out in January by exchanging players.

According to Eurosport, Atletico will ask the Red Devils what player they would like in return for Martial.

United have held a long-term interest in right-back Trippier and even tried to sign him in the summer after his successful Euro 2020 campaign with England.

And the 31-year-old could be the player Atletico let go of to strike a deal for the once highly regarded Martial.

United interim boss Ralf Rangnick wasn’t pulling any punches when responding to Martial’s agent publicly declaring the Frenchman wanted to leave the club due to his limited game time this term.

Rangnick blasted: “No, because then I would react to what his agent said and it should be the player.

“If he really has the wish to go to another club, it should be the player who informs either the board or myself, whomever.

“I don’t communicate with agents via the media and the press. The player hasn’t spoken with me or with us about it.”

Martial has not played a part in any of Rangnick’s three matchday squads due to injury.

Rangnick confirmed the forward has a knee problem.

He said: “After the final training session before the Crystal Palace game, after having trained with the team, he informed the doctor and the medical department that he will not be available because the pain on his knee is too big.

“So we have to wait and see.”
