Man Utd outcast Harry Maguire tipped to join Premier League rivals in summer transfer by England legend

MANCHESTER UNITED outcast Harry Maguire has been tipped for a move to Newcastle by England legend John Barnes.

The Three Lions centre-back is not wanted by Red Devils boss Erik Ten Hag and is expected to leave this summer.

Harry Maguire has been tipped to leave Man Utd for Newcastle

John Barnes reckons St James’ Park would be a great fit for the maligned captain

Maguire, 30, cost Man United £85million in 2019.

But he is behind Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof in the Old Trafford pecking order.

And former Toon and England winger Barnes reckons the Champions League Magpies would be the perfect fit for the defender.

Barnes, 59, said: “Maguire can have a better time at Newcastle.

“Because of course, you look at him when he plays for England and Harry always plays and Gareth Southgate loves him in his team.

“It just hasn’t worked for him at Manchester United and once it doesn’t work, it’s going to be difficult for the fans to back him.

“Once he’s got this perception, no matter how well you do for England or elsewhere, it will be difficult for him to do that at Man Utd.”

Barnes joined Newcastle from Liverpool in 1997, scoring six Prem goals.

And speaking to indiabetting, he added: “I think Maguire would be a great signing for Newcastle.

“He’s English, he’s a main player for the national side.

“And he’d be a good signing for Newcastle if it comes off.”
