Man Utd player ratings: Rashford shines in attack once again, but Young disappoints as captain

WHEN one comes along, they all tend to flow.

Manchester United made it two wins away from home in a row to climb to seventh in the Premier League.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Man Utd climbed to seventh after a second away win on the bounce

Before the match, they looked in danger of getting involved in a relegation scrap.

But Marcus Rashford and co stormed to a 3-1 victory at Carrow Road, with the England striker netting along with Daniel James and Anthony Martial.

Norwich did pull one back late through Onel Hernandez but the scoreline could have been worse for the Canaries if not for two fine penalty saves from Tim Krul.

Here, Adam Storer gives his player ratings:

David de Gea 7

The Spaniard had very little to do all game with Norwich failing to get forward with any real danger.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka 7

A game of two halves for the right-back as he struggled defensively and going forward in the first half.

He was lucky to still be on the pitch at half-time after a late challenge, but turned things around in the second period.

After the break, he was his usual self, solid in the tackle and provided an attacking outlet.

Wan-Bissaka enjoyed a feisty battle with Onel Hernadez in the second half after a disappointing opening 45 minutes

Victor Lindelof 8

The Swedish centre-back did not put a foot wrong. Assured and prevented any danger from reaching De Gea’s goal.

Teemu Pukki was almost through but he snuffed out the danger.

Harry Maguire 7

Like Lindelof, the Englishman was having another comfortable game – until Onel Hernandez dove at him.

Not helped by McTominay, but he should have done better to stop the Cuban from getting through on goal.

Ashley Young 5

Just like his fellow United full-back, he did not have his best game in a red shirt.

The Red Devils captain struggling with Max Aarons’ pace and energy on the left flank and shown a yellow card for a crunching tackle – even though Norwich fans called for VAR to make it more.

Scott McTominay 8

The Scottish midfielder was the calm, cool and collected man United needed as he controlled the game with his precision passing and always looking to go forward.

His goal was brilliant as well, knocking the ball out of his feet before rifling past Tim Krul on the turn.

Only criticism was that he lost the ball to Hernandez, who went onto score.

McTominay rifled his shot past Tim Krul for the opener but was a cool influence in the middle

Fred 7

A livewire in the heart of the midfield, getting forward and making sure he tracked back.

But apart from running all over the pitch, the Brazilian had little impact.

Daniel James 7

Another game, another assist. Very similar to against Liverpool, the Welshman whipped a wicked cross in early for Rashford to spring onto and finish.

Otherwise, a constant nuisance going forward and tried to keep the Norwich full-backs busy.

Andreas Pereira 7

Pereira tried to influence the match early on, cutting in from the left, but his shot crawled past Krul’s post.

He did however put the ball into the box that led to McTominay’s opener.

Marcus Rashford 9

He is loving his football at the moment. Since his return from international duty, Rashford is putting every foot right.

With Martial back, the England star has been allowed to move back out wide and is enjoying the freedom.

A simple counter attack saw him grab his goal with a one-on-one with Norwich keeper Krul, before he combined beautifully to set up his strike partner.

Yet, Rashford should have done better with his penalty, making it too easy for the Canaries shot-stopper.

Rashford continues to shine in attack for United with a goal and an assist on the night

Anthony Martial 8

The Frenchman was a constant menace to the Norwich defence – but struggled to find a way through, even seeing a penalty saved.

That was until he combined with Rashford to drive at the Canaries backline and just lifted the ball over the oncoming Tim Krul. Replaced by Mason Greenwood straight after.

SUBS

Mason Greenwood (replaced Anthony Martial) 6

Had a shot in injury time, which he should have buried if it wasn’t for Krul being in fine form.

Jesse Lingard (replaced Daniel James) 5

Did little to affect the game since coming on, epitomised by his first action – blasting a 30-yard shot over high and wide.

James Garner (replaced Andres Pereira) 5

Came on late to get some valuable minutes with the win looking all-but secure. But the 18-year-old did not cover himself in glory as he allowed Hernandez to sprint in front of him to score for Norwich.
