MANCHESTER UNITED needed super sub Mason Greenwood to rescue them a point as they drew 1-1 with Everton at Old Trafford.
Victor Lindelof’s own-goal on 36 minutes saw the Toffees sit back and try and soak up the pressure for most of the game before Greenwood came on and saved his team with his 77th minute strike.
United drop to sixth in the Premier League with the draw while Everton remain 16th.
And here’s what SunSport’s William Pugh thought of the Red Devils’ individual performances at Old Trafford.
DAVID DE GEA – 4
Very weak for Lindelof’s own goal to open the scoring.
Claims for a foul – that were ignored by VAR – against the Spaniard by Dominic Calvert-Lewin as he went to punch the ball but he will know he should have done better regardless.
Didn’t have a great deal to to do other than that but will be remembered for his involvement in the goal.
AARON WAN-BISSAKA – 6
Remained un-troubled for the majority.
Tried to get involved when United were going forward but uninspiring along with his teammates.
A few vital trademark tackles.
VICTOR LINDELOF – 5
Unfortunate to score the own-goal… sort of.
De Gea got a slight touch which changed the ball’s course before it struck the Swede.
But some may argue he was flat-footed, ball watching and could have done more to clear.
HARRY MAGUIRE – 5
Meh. Couple of half sniffs when roaming forward for set-pieces.
Nowhere to be seen for Everton’s opener but probably because he thought De Gea was going to punch clear.
LUKE SHAW – 5
Not a great first-half but joined in with a few attacks in the second to try and make something happen.
Had a rare shot that stung Pickford’s palms in the second-half.
SCOTT McTOMINAY – 7
Looked to drive forward with the ball and forced fouls from Tom Davies on a few occasions.
Another solid display after plaudits at Man City last week but needs to be more creative to become the next level midfielder United need.
FRED – 5
Industrious but like with McTominay, in games like this, United need more than industry.
They need skill, talent and flair.
Little of that on show from Fred.
Was also on set-piece duty and not a lot came from either of those either.
DANIEL JAMES (subbed off, 85 mins) – 7
Should have done better with chance in the first-half that he dragged wide when through on goal.
Probed and pushed as he looked to get his team back in the game.
Supplied the pass for Greenwood’s equaliser.
JESSE LINGARD (subbed off, 64 mins) – 6
Showed desire throughout.
Also wasted a chance to put United in the lead.
His swivelling effort from 15 yards after just 30 seconds of the game fizzed wide but you feel Rashford or Martial would have at least hit the target with such space in the penalty area.
Just not creative or generally good enough for where United want to be.
MARCUS RASHFORD – 6
A couple of half-chances in the first-half.
Fizzed one wide early on when played through and then forced a smart save out of Pickford with a free-kick soon after.
Needs to figure out a plan, along with his attacking teammates, of breaking down teams that defend resolutely.
Direct speed and power isn’t always the answer.
did not have his shooting boots on today.
ANTHONY MARTIAL – 5
Quiet first-half.
Another vintage display where he struggles against teams who sit back.
Too one dimensional.
Disappointing.

MASON GREENWOOD (replaced Lingard) – 8
Made an instant impact off the bench.
A delightful left-footed finish from the edge of the box that dug United out a hole they didn’t look like getting out of.
JUAN MATA (replaced Dan James) – 5
Not enough time to make an impact but misplaced a pass when he could have played Rashford through.
