Man Utd release new 2021-22 home kit with old school design… but fans think it looks more like Sunday league shirt

MANCHESTER UNITED’S new home kit has been described as ‘Sunday League’ by some fans.

The Red Devils launched their 2020-21 strip on Thursday morning but supporters were not impressed.

United said: “TeamViewer’s name adorns the shirt, beneath the Adidas logo and iconic Manchester United crest, to make this home shirt feel like an instant classic.

“Whilst the ribbed collar and cuffs lock in comfort and a heritage feel.”

The design is inspired by iconic United kits of the 1960s with the club’s new sponsor TeamViewer – a software company – adorning the front.

TeamViewer have replaced last season’s shirt sponsor Chevrolet.

United announced a five-year deal, £235m deal with the global technology company earlier this year.

The shirt is plain red with simple white trim around the collar and sleeves.

A selection of first team stars including Harry Maguire, Marcus Rashford, Paul Pogba, Luke Shaw and Bruno Fernandes posed for the sales shots.

But some fans are yet to be convinced. Buzz tweeted: “Looks like a Sunday league football kit. One of the lads’ dad owns the company that sponsors the kit.”

But not all fans are impressed

England ace Marcus Rashford posed for marketing shots at the club’s Carrington training ground

And star midfielder Paul Pogba looked classy in the new Adidas installment

Goat wrote: “What is it with Barca and United making s*** kits.”

And Jackson simply tweeted: “Worst kit ever.”

United’s partnership with TeamViewer is the biggest shirt-only deal in Premier League history, worth £47m each year.

But Old Trafford managing director Richard Arnold revealed the tech firm did not even offer the biggest package deal.

Arnold said: “They weren’t the highest bidder. What they bring to us is way beyond money.”

The partnership plans to introduce United’s ‘1.1billion fans and followers around the world to exciting new technology drawing on TeamViewer’s expertise in remote connectivity services’.

Arnold, added: “We are tremendously proud to be establishing this partnership with one of the most exciting and dynamic global software companies.

“The ability to connect and collaborate has never been more important to the world and our community of 1.1billion fans and followers.

“We are looking forward to working with TeamViewer to bring to life our vision for a partnership built on smarter ways of connecting people and businesses.”
