Man Utd send scouts to watch Crystal Palace flop striker Alexander Sorloth at Trabzonspor after Haaland misery

MANCHESTER UNITED reportedly send scouts to watch Crystal Palace flop Alexander Sorloth at Trabzonspor.

Fotomac claim the Red Devils were among several sides, including Sheffield United, in keeping tabs on the striker during his side’s 5-2 win over Rizespor in Turkey’s Super Lig on Saturday.

Manchester United have registered an interest in Trabzonspor striker Alexander Sorloth

Sorloth, a £9million signing back for Palace in January 2018, failed to score in 16 Premier League appearances for the Eagles and was farmed out on loan.

However, the 24-year-old has since flourished on a two-year loan deal at Trabzonspor, netting 24 times and registering seven assists this season.

The Turkish side reportedly have the option to buy him for as little as £6m, and then would be able to sell Sorloth for a marked-up price to one of Europe’s elite.

Fotospor have also linked Premier League strugglers Newcastle and Brighton with an interest in the Norwegian.

United are on the lookout for a striker this summer after they beaten to the signing of Erling Haaland by Borussia Dortmund.

And the 19-year-old has wasted no time in showing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer what he missed out on with 11 goals in his first seven appearances – including two against Paris Saint-Germain.

Haaland then further rubbed salt in the wound by declaring he wanted to join United before changing his mind.

Solskjaer was instead forced to bring in former Watford striker Odion Ighalo on loan for the rest of the season from Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua.

The Old Trafford boss had hoped to return for Haaland this summer, but his £63m release clause is not active until NEXT year.

So now the 47-year-old has seemingly turned his attention to another of his compatriots in Sorloth, who admitted he was aware of speculation around him.

As quoted by Turkish-Football, he said: “I have seen the rumours, there are so many, I have read them and keep being sent information about teams that are interested.

“However, I am only focused on Trabzonspor, there is a great team spirit here and we want to win the double.

“This is a great side, we play at the highest level and the team have really bonded together.

“It would be irresponsible and wrong to disrespectful to talk about transfers at this time.

“I am not going to do it, I am not getting involved, I am focused on the title race.”
