CHRIS SUTTON says Manchester United should only keep FIVE first-team stars after Sunday’s 4-1 mauling at the hands of rivals Manchester City.

The former Chelsea striker branded United legend Roy Keane as ‘modest’ for only suggesting ‘five or six’ players should never wear the red shirt again.

Rashford, Maguire, Lingard, Fred and Aaron Wan-Bissaka are in the ‘BIN’ category

Fernandes should stay, according to Sutton

Man Utd find themselves trailing a point behind rivals Arsenal in the race for a top-four finish.

Arsenal also have THREE games in hand.

Writing in the Daily Mail, he recommended keeping David de Gea, Scott McTominay, Anthony Elanga, Jadon Sancho and Bruno Fernandes.

The 48-year-old put the likes of club captain Harry Maguire and United legend Cristiano Ronaldo in the ‘BIN’ category.

On Ronaldo he said: “Extraordinary player with an extraordinary ego.

“I questioned United’s move for Ronaldo, fearing his presence would have a detrimental impact.

“I see this as more of a commercial signing than a smart one in terms of tactics. He’s 37 now and it’s time to move on.”

SunSport revealed that there are serious doubts over Ronaldo’s future after he missed the derby mauling.

However, he was back at the training ground today.

Sutton says United’s summer clean-out ‘could hit double figures.’

He said: “United fans want to see their team competing for the Premier League and Champions League.

“If we’re basing our decisions on who’s good enough to make them an elite club again, then we could hit double figures in terms of who gets binned.

“Their performance at the Etihad was embarrassing.”

Amid talk of a mass clear out, SunSport has imagined what the Manchester United team might look like next season with some major additions to the squad.
