Man Utd sign analyst Ewan Sharp as assistant coach after Scot worked with Ralf Rangnick at New York and Moscow together

RALF RANGNICK has brought a trusted advisor into the mix at Manchester United after signing analyst Ewan Sharp.

The Scot had been working alongside Rangnick at Lokomotiv Moscow and moves to Old Trafford as an assistant to the German.

Ewan Sharp has been part of Ralf Rangnick’s Red Bull set-up

Sharp has long been part of his new boss’s inner circle, previously working with MLS side New York Red Bulls.

Rangnick was formerly Red Bull’s head of sport and development, overseeing the energy drinks giant’s footballing initiatives.

Now in charge at Old Trafford on an interim basis, the 63-year-old has set about overhauling the Red Devils’ backroom staff.

He has already brought in ex-NY Red Bulls and Toronto boss Chris Armas as an assistant after the departure of Michael Carrick.

And he has added former RB Leipzig sports psychologist Sascha Lense to his team.

Sharp cut his teeth in North America having playing college football before working as a video analyst at several US universities.

He already knows Armas well from his time in New York and Toronto, where he was also on the staff.

His stay in Russia was short lived before United came knocking after only moving there last month.

Rangnick was named interim boss to replace caretaker Carrick last month after the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

He is in place until the end of the season but is set to be retained as a footballing consultant beyond next summer.
