Man Utd star Bruno Fernandes makes one promise to Anthony Martial for Brighton game ahead of new Premier League season

BRUNO FERNANDES has made Anthony Martial a promise going into Manchester United’s Premier League curtain raiser next week.

Erik ten Hag’s side get their campaign underway by hosting Brighton at Old Trafford next Sunday.

Anthony Martial and Bruno Fernandes have a “connection”

One man who could feature is Anthony Martial, having played his way back into contention during pre-season after being virtually written off last term following an underwhelming loan spell at Sevilla.

As United flew to Bangkok for the first leg of their pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia, Martial asked Fernandes to “give him some assists”.

The Portuguese responded: ” I will, for sure man, you know that we have that connection.”

Martial scored three goals on the trip… but none of them were made by Fernandes – a detail that didn’t go unnoticed by the forward.

In a clip captured by MUTV, Fernandes said: “Here we are again with Tony Martial.

“The guy of the tour, the man who scores loads of goals for us.

“How was the tour for you Anthony? Did you like it?”

Martial cheekily replied: “It was very good but you didn’t give me one assist.”

Fernandes had a quick-witted response, light-heartedly hitting back: “You are right, you know why?

“I’m putting everything on the league. First game of the season, OK?”

With Cristiano Ronaldo’s future up in the air and Edinson Cavani gone, Martial is in a strong position to start on the opening day.

Martial, 26, could be in contention to start against Brighton
