, Man Utd star Bruno Fernandes takes on idol Cristiano Ronaldo in Nike Living Room Cup after Juve ace’s 142 ab crunches

MANCHESTER UNITED star Bruno Fernandes has taken on Cristiano Ronaldo in the ab crunch challenge.

The Juventus star and Fernandes’ Portugal team-mate launched his Living Room Cup yesterday after he released a video showing him doing 142 crunches in just 45 seconds.

Fernandes too Ronaldo on in the ab crunch challenge – but could not match his idol

After impressing United fans with his brilliant performances since arriving in January, Fernandes probably felt pretty good about challenging his mate – who convinced him to join the Red Devils.

But if his effort is anything to go by then no one will be getting close to Ronaldo’s record.

Fernandes managed 117 crunches in his video – some 25 fewer than Ronaldo.

Next up we could get to see how Anthony Martial does, after Fernandes called him out in his post accompanying the video.

He wrote: “#NikeLivingRoomCup – Week One. 117 Abs in 45 seconds. Not bad for a Sunday. Thanks for the challenge @Cristiano @nike @nikefootball Challenge: @jorgejesus @francisobikwelu @martial_9 @carloschainho @cesartmourao @madjer_official.”

Spare a thought for Jorge Jesus, though.

Fernandes’ former manager at Sporting, who is now 65, was also tagged to give the challenge a go.

Footballers have been doing their bit to entertain people stuck at home because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Ronaldo’s great rival Lionel Messi made easy work of the Stay at Home challenge.

The Barcelona hero made juggling a loo roll with his feet look just as easy as he does with a real ball.

And Chelsea star Christian Pulisic pulled off some perfect keepy-ups in time with a Drake song as part of the Toosie Slide challenge.

That effort was a hell of a lot better than when he nearly injured himself again when falling over while doing kick-ups in his back garden.
