DANIEL JAMES has revealed he beats defenders by refusing to stay down after he is hacked.

The midfielder, 22, has been compared to Cristiano Ronaldo by Wales boss Ryan Giggs because of his “bravery” on the pitch.

Daniel James has highlighted the importance of climbing back to your feet after a challenge

James has established himself as a fan favourite at Old Trafford since his summer move from Swansea.

Following this weekend’s 3-1 win over Brighton, James was asked how he deals with defenders relentlessly kicking him during games.

He said: “I’ve been used to it. Last season in the Championship I had a lot of hits.

“If a defender hits you and you stay down he might think he’s got the better of you so to get up and keep going is important.”

Before he added: “It’s important to keep getting back up. It’s part of the game.

“If I can get forward and win free-kicks high up then it’s good.

“It’s important to keep getting back up, keep playing and I enjoy it.”

James has scored three goals and made two assists for United in 12 games, but has been slammed by fans for diving this season.

He was booked after he took a comical tumble during his full Manchester United debut Wolves.

And Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had to jump to his defence after his second booking for simulation.

James admitted he was star-struck when he first arrived, but has formed a great bond with the likes of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial on the pitch.

When asked about the exciting front three, he said: “We’re really enjoying our football at the minute.

“Maybe it’s taken a few weeks, but we’ve all got that connection together and it’s important.”
