Man Utd star Fred should ‘shut up and keep performing on pitch’ after criticising club, slams Gabby Agbonlahor

GABBY AGBONLAHOR has blasted Fred for speaking out during a busy period for Manchester United.

The pundit claimed Fred should be focused on preparing for big matches, such as the trip to Atletico Madrid, rather than criticising the club.

Fred helped Manchester United draw with Atletico Madrid after Gabby Agbonlahor’s criticism

Fred defended himself from critics and questioned the appointment of an interim manager in Ralf Rangnick in an interview this week.

And Agbonlahor has now hit out at the Brazilian, telling him in no uncertain terms to get on with his job.

He said on talkSPORT: “Scored a goal have we, Fred?

“I just don’t get it. You’ve had an amazing performance against Leeds, you battered Leeds, Fred scored and you have a big game tonight – stop talking!

“Get your head down, get your recovery done the next day, you’re probably flying out to Madrid the day after. Why are these players talking so much? I don’t get it.

“Stop talking about things you don’t need to. If I’m the manager, I’m fuming.

“I just don’t understand. If I’m [Ralf] Rangnick I’m thinking, ‘oh, here we go, another little player is talking’. Just shut up and keep performing on the pitch’.”

Fred started against Atletico and helped United secure a 1-1 draw despite being second best to Diego Simeone’s side for the most part.

The midfielder is happy with his individual performances though, despite criticism from United legends Roy Keane and Paul Scholes.

In reaction to their comments Fred said: “They had many moments of glory for Manchester United and now they’re paid to give opinions, so I’m fine with it.

“It’s their job and it’s their right to do so. I don’t agree with it but it’s their opinion.

“I’m not confrontational, I’ve heard a lot of negative comments about me, always negative, but I won’t say anything back. My focus is to work on the pitch.”
