Man Utd star Harry Maguire made to look like Sunday league player after shocking defending against Partizan

MANCHESTER UNITED’S 85million summer Harry Maguire has been slammed for his defending during his side’s 1-0 Europa League win at Partizan Belgrade.

Just days after he was branded a “Sunday league player” by former Spurs star Rafael van der Vaart, Maguire had some shaky moments in Serbia.

There was one moment in the early stages of the second half where he appeared to fall over his own feet.

It led to some heavy criticism when the clip was shared on social media.

Many couldn’t believes it cost United 85m to sign him from Leicester.

One fan wrote on Twitter: “You can buy whole Partizan squad for 80m just saying.”

Stephen Munyao posted that it looked like Maguire was “doign some press ups”, while a rival Liverpool fan wrote that he “gets turned inside out on a weekly basis.”

“Overrated”, “in trouble” and “embarrassing” were some other comments thrown in Maguire’s direction.

Van Der Vaart, who moved into playing DARTS after he retired from football, launched an astonishing attack on Maguire’s skills, or lack of them, last week.

‘ENGLAND’S WORST PLAYER’

Speaking onZiggo Sport, he said: “He can do something, but if he is worth so much money, Virgil van Dijk is worth 300million.

“If I am going to play with the amateurs on Sunday afternoon, I can easily find three who can do this. I mean that seriously.

“A bit silly to say, but I really think so.”

Van der Vaart previously dubbed Maguire England’s worst player at the Nations League followingthe 3-1 semi-final defeat to Holland in June.

He told Sky Sports: Its funny because during the Nations League, I was doing work for Dutch television.

And I remember we were saying Harry Maguire was by far the worst player on the pitch.

And then, two months later [he transferred for] 90m.
