Man Utd star Marcus Rashford silences trolls who slam his charity work with brilliant individual strike vs Brighton

MANCHESTER UNITED star Marcus Rashford showed that his charity work is doing his football absolutely no harm, by scoring an amazing individual goal against Brighton.

The inspirational England star has been campaigning to end child poverty in Britain all year, with his latest efforts directed at providing vulnerable kids free school meals during half-term.

But some idiotic trolls have decided that he should “stick to football”, rather than try and help hungry kids be able to eat.

One such berk responded to one of Rashford’s tweets, writing: “Time to play some football mate.”

But Rashford, 22, has proven that he can inspire off the pitch while delivering on it, by brilliantly weaving his way through the Brighton defence and composedly rifling past Aussie keeper Mat Ryan.

Rashford wrote on Twitter last night: “Imagine going to bed at night with a full stomach, preparing for a good sleep, knowing there are 1.1M helpless children who are probably wide awake listening to their stomachs grumbling or their parents sobbing, whose life could be significantly improved by one decision…

“If a child needs access to food at school, OF COURSE they need access to it at home! Why can’t we provide assurance that our children will be protected during school holidays? Why is this even a question?? How do we justify not helping them?? People are losing their jobs…

“We are the ‘United’ kingdom. Surely we know right from wrong. I don’t care where you are from or how old you are. You don’t have to have experienced food poverty to know it is unacceptable in 2020. And this is not a COVID problem in the UK.

“People NEED help! Children NEED our help. These children are the future of this country – our nurses, our doctors, our health care workers. One day we are going to NEED them and right now there are at least 1.1M of them who owe us nothing…

“How would we feel at our most vulnerable if they turned a blind eye to our needs??? Think about it…

“Anyway, I’m off to ‘stick to my football’. Have a good weekend everyone.”

Most right-minded fans have praised Rashford online for his determination and passion on the subject – while odds have been slashed on the Man United forward winning this year’s Sports Personality of the Year.

After his goal, one fan wrote: “I dare you, somebody say ‘focus on football’ one more time!

“Marcus Rashford can do it all. Save children from poverty and bag goals for Manchester United! He’s one of our own!”

Rashford’s goal gave United a scarcely-deserved 2-1 lead at the Amex, with Brighton smashing the ball against the woodwork on a number of occasions and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side clinging on for dear life.
