A number of clubs have been linked with a swoop after he helped the LaLiga club to reach the Champions League semi-finals.

And now, with Sadio Mane potentially set to depart Anfield for Bayern Munich, one of those is allegedly Liverpool.

The star left newly-promoted Bournemouth after two seasons on the South Coast for Villarreal a year ago in a £21.3million deal and scored 16 goals during his first campaign there.

He still has four years left on his deal and appears to be loving life working under ex-Arsenal manager Unai Emery.

The attacker recently said: “Emery is special: he’s one of the main reasons why I came to Villarreal. It’s such a privilege to work under him as a coach.

“He is so open with the players and I am learning so much from him. It is really enjoyable to work with him. He is one of the best. He is different.”
