Man Utd tipped to pip Arsenal to fourth place as Peter Schmeichel says ‘it’s hard to see but their form is better’

PETER SCHMEICHEL has backed his former club Manchester United to pip rivals Arsenal to fourth place.

The Red Devils are currently four points clear of their rivals thanks to a 4-2 win over rivals Leeds, but the Gunners have three games in hand.

Schmeichel is backing his former side to finish fourth

Schmeichel believes it’s better to have ‘points on the board rather than games in hand.’

On the top-four race, he told BBC Radio 5 Live Breakfast: “I think Arsenal have shown some great form.

“But actually, on current form in the last five games, Man Utd is a little bit better than Arsenal. It’s hard to see but they are.

“I think having the points on the board rather than games in hand [is more important].

“It (Leeds) was a great win, let me absolutely clear about that it was a great win, but I still think there is a long, long, long way to go for this team.

“They’ve still got, in terms of football, so many more things to prove.”

However, a supercomputer has predicted Arsenal to secure Champions League football with a fourth placed finish.

United are predicted to finish fifth, followed by Tottenham in sixth and West Ham in seventh.

Arsenal have also leapfrogged United and Spurs in the bookies’ market, priced 7/5 to secure a top-four finish with Betfair.
