Man Utd to let Dean Henderson stay at Sheff Utd for rest of season despite loan transfer deal finishing in June

MANCHESTER UNITED are set to let Dean Henderson stay at Sheffield United for the rest of season – despite his loan deal expiring in June.

The England hopeful, 23, is currently on loan at Bramall Lane with United chiefs facing a moral dilemma over whether to recall him.

Man Utd are set to allow Dean Henderson to stay at Sheff Utd until the end of the season

United and the Blades are both vying for the final Champions League qualification spot, worth £60million.

But Old Trafford chiefs are set to be kind and allow him to finish off the 2019-20 season at Sheffield United, say The Telegraph.

The current campaign has been on pause since March after the coronavirus pandemic forced all sport into lockdown.

Premier League chiefs are now hoping to restart next month, with Friday June 12 the initial proposed date, although some reports claim it could be pushed back to June 26.

Regardless of the date, Henderson was set to head back to Man Utd next month, with all domestic and European football done for the season.

But the Blades still have 12 Premier League games left this season, with Henderson having started all 28 matches for Chris Wilder’s side this season.

And Sheffield United chiefs are confident of a “positive outcome” after talks with the Red Devils over keeping hold of Henderson.

No fewer than 86 players are set for a confused end to the season – as their loan deals or contracts expire in June.

The likes of Chelsea duo Willian and Pedro could both quit the club come June, leaving the Blues to fight on without them for the remainder of the campaign.

And the same could apply to Henderson at Sheffield United.

Man Utd currently occupy fifth spot in the Premier League – good enough to qualify for next season’s Champions League thanks to Manchester City’s two-year ban over FFP breaches.

But Sheff Utd will overtake Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side if they win their game in hand.

Despite pride and a huge sum of money on the line, Man Utd are set to take the high ground and allow this season’s surprise package to keep their star man, Henderson.

The goalkeeper, a near-certainty to make his England debut in the coming months, is also tipped to take over the No1 spot at Old Trafford from David De Gea on his return.
